Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Mission: Impossible - Fallout - The GBY

Wow! What a ride!  Mission: Impossible – Fallout is an exciting, fun movie that is like an aerobic workout.  Tom Cruise is still our hero Ethan Hunt, racing through cities, hanging from cliffs, and always ready with a clever quip.  In this edition of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Ethan sometimes falls a little short physically, though his team is there to back him up.  Cruise is in great shape, the running scenes are truly impressive, but his foes are younger, so they occasionally get the upper hand.  Hunt also seems to be getting a little more emotional about his work and its consequences.  August Walker (Henry Cavill) is a new member of Hunt’s team, but his porn stache is an unwelcome addition.  Maybe he thinks we won’t recognize his Man of Steel good looks, but I think it is unbelievable on a CIA agent.   Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), Isla Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) and Alan Huntley (Alec Baldwin) round out Hunt’s team.   Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) returns as Ethan’s nemesis.  Vanessa Kirby (Princess Margaret, The Crown) has a pivotal appearance as the White Widow.  The plot takes quite a few twists and turns, so you never really know who to trust.  This is a visceral movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat.  See it in theaters today.
