Initially, we were surprised that Vice was in the Musical/Comedy section of the Golden Globes. Last night went to a screening with USA Film Festival at the Alamo Draft House in Lake Highlands. Now we are shocked! It is a prime example of the liberal media machine pushing their agenda. This movie is not funny at all, if they needed a comedy why didn’t they pick Game Night? That is a funny movie. Vice is disjointed, convoluted and confusing, not in a “I don’t understand” way but in a “what was that” way. The vignette’s that McKay used in The Big Short were informative and interesting, this movie is neither of those things. What is up with the Shakespeare scene, ridiculous! The movie is so over the top that if anything is actually true, either you can’t believe it or you just don’t care anymore. Christian Bale (Hostiles) is unrecognizable as the older Cheney, but I thought the Batman voice was a little distracting. Amy Adams is excellent as Lynne Cheney, proof that all any man needs to get ahead is a motivated woman. Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri)’s performance as George W. Bush is a caricaturistic disappointment. Steve Carrell (Beautiful Boy), Jesse Plemons (Game Night), Tyler Perry, Alison Pill and Lily Rabe round out the cast. Watch for Alfred Molina (The Front Runner)’s creepy cameo.
