On the advice of the guys in my office I saw Black Panther. I liked it so much I went again with my mother. I was surprised that this is such a female centered film. Even though Black Panther is a man, the women in his life are clearly running the show, and they are fierce! I first noticed Chadwick Boseman in 42. I thought he was great and perfect for the demanding role. His next role in Draft Day was equally appealing. He is very good as T’Challah, a man not quite ready to be king. Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Danai Gurira (Okoye) and Angela Bassett (Ramonda, Mission Impossible: Fallout) are the women behind the king. They are strong, focused, brilliant and determined. Daniel Kaluuya (WKabi, Widows, Get Out), Forest Whitaker (Zuri, Sorry to Bother You) and Andy Serkis (Ulysses Klaue) also have significant roles.
Even though I am not a huge fan of the Avenger movies, too much destruction, this origin film is totally entertaining. The action scenes get your blood pumping and the love story is very sweet. This movie is completely entertaining. Now that it has been nominated for best picture it should get another life in the theaters. This is a movie that should be seen on the big screen.
