Isn’t It Romantic is your typical romantic comedy. It’s starts out sharp and clever and falls into a pile of mush at the end. Natalie (Rebel Wilson) is an architect that may be talented but doesn’t have the confidence to be taken seriously. She doesn’t seem to care about herself or her surroundings. Josh (Adam Devine) and Whitney (Betty Gilpin) are her coworkers that appreciate Natalie despite her hangdog attitude. After an accident, Natalie wakes up in her own romantic comedy, complete with a PG rating (curse words being bleeped out), gay best friend, Donny (Brandon Scott Jones) and so many hunky guys (doctors, policeman, etc.) that all seem to be interested in her. Not the least of these hot guys is Blake (Liam Hemsworth), her firm’s latest client. Isabella (Priyanka Chopra) is introduced as her gorgeous competition and her best friend becomes her nemesis. Even though she is uncomfortable in her “perfect” new world, she realizes it also comes with a price. After her epiphany, she returns to her real life but at least now she seems to care more about herself and have a whole new level of confidence. The rest was pretty predictable, complete with a forgettable dance number. If you love a romantic comedy, I would see What Men Want first, but this makes a suitable second choice.
