I am surrounded by IT guys at my job so I had to jump on the Avengers: Endgame bandwagon. I have enjoyed several of the backstory movies, but the Avenger movies have hope destroying destruction which is not to my taste. I watched Avengers: Infinity Wars on NetFlix to prep for Endgame, it was pretty much as expected. Endgame only briefly goes to the deep destruction zone, most of it hopeful and more character driven. They brought out all the stars, some very briefly and one even from the cutting room floor (Natalie Portman, Vox Lux). Chris Hemsworth (Bad Times at the El Royale) is quite funny in his new incarnation. Jeremy Renner (Tag) and Paul Rudd (The Catcher Was a Spy) – who were not in Infinity Wars, each play pivotal roles in saving our future. It is nice to see Tessa Thompson (Sorry to Bother You), Elizabeth Olsen (Kodachrome), Gwyneth Paltrow and Danai Gurira, among others, not only holding their own but often leading the charge. The fight scenes are exciting and visceral. As the title implies, this film ties up loose ends and does leave you on an up note.
See it in the theater. If you haven’t seen all the movies you may not understand everything, but you’ll still enjoy the movie.
