John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - The GBY

For those of you that appreciate this genre, all I can say is WOW!  If you are like me and didn’t take Latin in high school, you should know that Parabellum means prepare for war.  This third installment of the John Wick franchise could be the best.  Part of the appeal of John Wick was that so much of it was unexpected.  So in this one you know what to expect and you still enjoy it for the entire 2 hours and 10 minutes.  Keanu Reeves is still perfect as the deadpan John (Two to the Head) Wick, trying to get out of his profession.   He begins his excommunication unarmed so he must come up with some very creative ways to dispatch his assassins – which seem in endless supply.   There are some new characters Sofia (Halle Berry) and her very cool assistants, Zero (Mark Dacascos), can’t decide if he is an assassin or a fan boy, The Director (Angelika Houston), extremely menacing in an elegant way and The Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon).  Berrada (Jerome Flynn) makes a brief, yet pivotal appearance.  There are also old friends – Winston (Ian McShane) and Charon (Lance Reddick) the keepers of The Continental, The Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), as charmingly ominous as in John Wick 2 and of course, Dog.   I saw this sneak preview at the Studio Movie Grill and had to two hours.  It was worth it!  It has been a while since I have been so excited about a movie.  It may be fluff but it’s good fluff.  Go see John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum this weekend!!
