We saw this remarkable film at TIFF 2019. The description had us loading up on Kleenex but the movie was surprisingly uplifting. Based on a true story, we view a marriage from the perspective of their younger daughter. The Sky is Pink is a heartwarming story that captures a couple’s struggle to keep their daughter alive and their family together. It depicts their ups and downs, poor to rich, love and misunderstandings. Priyanka Chopra (Isn’t It Romantic) is excellent as the fierce mother, fighting for her child. Farhan Akhtar plays the father, trying to find his place in the battle. Zaira Wasim (Dangal) plays the oldest version of Aisha with spunk and strength. We also had the pleasure of the Chadhary’s speaking at our screening. This is an Indian film with subtitles and it should not be missed.
Our Review for “The Sky is Pink”
Official Trailer for “The Sky is Pink”
The Sky Is Pink is the incredible love story of a couple spanning 25 years, told through the lens of their teenage daughter. She is sassy, sardonic, spunky and also…dead. A fact she nonchalantly mentions at the very outset. “Get over it. It’s quite cool actually. You’ll see when you get here (which you do know you will right?!)” Unexpectedly humorous, warm and heart wrenching all at once as the magic of life and beauty of death manifest in one family’s unusual, courageous journey in this 100% true story.
