This is the year of films based on magazine articles. Dark Waters, based on The New York Times Magazine article “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare” was a revelation all around. All I could think of was “Why didn’t I hear this story on the news?”. It came out of nowhere, suddenly I am seeing trailers for a movie starring Anne Hathaway (Ocean’s Eight) and Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame), two actors I like to stalk. The subject matter seemed to be a little dry, but the film was surprisingly gripping. Bill Pullman, Tim Robbins, Mare Winningham and Victor Garber fill out the cast with style. Some of the actual people have cameo’s in the film.
